What these photos do is extract these locations from these associations and present them in a calm, almost serene manner. This architecture was built from the 1950’s to the 1990’s with a certain ambition and optimism towards modernity that jars with the fabric of the built environment. This intention of creating utopian ideals through architecture is now seen to have failed yet these spaces still carry out their functions, posing the question of whether it is the change in culture that has left these buildings on the edge of the accepted vernacular or if it is their aesthetic qualities that have caused them to loose their place in the modern city.
